House still couldn't quite believe how the previous day had gone. When he'd gone into Fox's shop for an ingredient for an experiment, he certainly hadn't expected to share a bed with him. Asking him to dinner would have seemed like a slightly more likely outcome, and somehow that had ended up happening after.

Later that evening he went back to Fox's place, dressed nicely (for him) and smelling good.

"Well that's depressing," Fox teased with a laugh, his smile warm and soft.

House chuckled a little, and then after a moment said, "It's kind of... strange, how all this happened, right?" Pause. "I confess, it had crossed my mind to ask you out, before this."

"Why didn't you?" Fox asked. "Did I seem like I was dripping with prospects? Fair maidens and princes lined up down the block?"

He shrugged, then smiled. "Strange is good. I'm used to strange."

"Well, I don't really.... tend to do that much, and..." House looked a bit awkward. "I thought I was too old for you. Though now I realize I don't actually know how old you are." With his fae blood, there was no telling.

"I'm thirty-six," Fox answered. "Why, how old are you?"

House rubbed the back of his neck. "Forty-eight," he said. "But you... look younger. I guess that's not surprising though."

"That's not such a big difference really," Fox assured him. "And I don't look too much younger than my age. I mean, I don't feel like I do at least."

House thought it was a big difference, but it was kind of nice that Fox felt that way. He kind of wanted to ask about Fox's lifespan, but that seemed like a second date kind of question.

"Well mostly you're just hot," House assured him.

"And here I was hoping you were admiring my stunning intellect," Fox said. "I suppose I'm alright with being wanted for my looks though."

"I am so good at multitasking," House said, grinning. "I can admire your intellect and your face at the same time."

Fox laughed at that, shaking his head.

"Are we nearly there?" he asked.

"One more block," House said. Then added, "Bit slow, I know. My motorcycle's parked at your place, but I don't have an extra helmet."

"I would have risked it," Fox flirted. "You should take me for a ride sometime."

"I would love that," said House, imagining it for a moment...

And then another kind of riding.

"Maybe next week?" Fox suggested.

[drfeelbad]

"Sure," House said, then teased, "And I appreciate the confidence that you're going to want a second date. It is a very cool motorcycle, though."

"I'm not saying that, I'm just saying I definitely want a ride on your bike," Fox teased.

“Understandable,” House snorted, and stopped under an awning, opening the door for Fox into the restaurant. It was nice but not too fancy, and there was a table waiting for them.

Fox ordered himself a water when they came for their drink orders, though it was tempting to order a beer. It was always tempting. He'd been good so far this week though.

"What do you recommend?" he asked. "I'm guessing you've been here before."

"I have, though only for takeaway," House said, and opened the menu in front of Fox to point at something. "The basics are great here... butter chicken, tiki masala, great garlic naan... if you like I can just order some things and we can share."

He'd gotten a Diet Coke. Under normal circumstances, yes he'd have a beer, but it seemed like kind of a dick move and he could certainly do without.

"Sounds perfect," Fox said. "I'm starving, actually. Got so wrapped up in restocking that I missed lunch."

The server came back over and House ordered a spread, then turned his attention back to Fox.

"I also made the potion with the vervain this morning," he said. "I'm eager to try it."

"Oh, right, I had nearly forgotten about all that. When do you think you'll get to test it?" Fox asked.

"Oh, soon enough, I'm sure," House said. "I deal with vampire hangovers quite a bit. I'm sort of the doctor on call for Nocturne."

"The brothel? That's what it is, right? My grandad used to tell me to stay away from it," Fox noted.
