House noticed Wilson's gaze flick briefly to their hands. But his answer was quick and decisive.

“Chemo’s the right call. No question there.”

He set his coffee down on the table, folding his hands together thoughtfully.

“I saw in your chart that your team’s leaning toward a slower ramp-up. And I understand why—they’re worried about how your body will handle it, especially with recent substance use in the mix.”

His gaze didn’t shift away. And his tone didn’t change—there was no judgment in it. Just clarity.

“But I think you’re stronger than they’re giving you credit for. And if we wait too long, or go too soft out of caution, we give the leukemia more time to dig in. You’re young. Your labs aren’t perfect, but they’re not crashing. And you've got support,” he added, flicking a glance at House.

House let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.

Then, more gently from Wilson:

“I’d like to examine you thought if that's okay. So you're more than numbers on a page." He nodded to the bag he brought in. "Enough for some vitals anyway."
