Nyx

When he picked him up at the airport (late, after multiple flight delays), the first words House heard out of Wilson's mouth in almost two years were: “Seriously? Two years of radio silence, and you can’t even get out of the car?”

He took them straight from the airport to a bar, and to be fair Wilson did look at Nyx's file before they started getting drinking.

And after House dropped Wilson off at the hotel, things he'd said were just running through House's mind, he always had these stupidly true little jabs.

You’re not your worst moment. You never were.

Honestly I never really thought that your sexuality was limited to people who annoyed you in one specific gender.

You keep insisting it’s casual, but I’ve never seen you this careful.

You’d rather be right than happy. You always have.

God House fucking hated that about him.

He picked him up the next morning and brought him to Nyx's place. How did Wilson always look so fucking put together? "I see you remembered your hair gel," he said as Wilson climbed into his car.

"You must really like this guy, you're wearing a clean shirt," Wilson returned.

It wasn't long before they were standing in front of Nyx's door. When he opened it, House held out a box. "I brought bagels," he said.

comments

Hex

House leaned back in his chair, feet propped up on the edge of the desk, lazily spinning a pen between his fingers. The audition sides sat in front of him, untouched, because he already knew how this was going to go.

Hex—the actor with the ridiculous name and even more ridiculous face—was about to walk in, flash a charming, well-practiced smile, and deliver a passable, if uninspired performance. Then, House would have to decide whether he wanted to hire him on merit or out of sheer spite.

It wasn't even the producer's fondness of Hex that mattered. Nyx was insisting. That was the problem. It was just nepotism with more steps, but damn it, House cared what he thought.

He was also kind of curious if the guy could actually act. And to be frank, someone who looked like him was right for this part.

comments

Fox

House still couldn't quite believe how the previous day had gone. When he'd gone into Fox's shop for an ingredient for an experiment, he certainly hadn't expected to share a bed with him. Asking him to dinner would have seemed like a slightly more likely outcome, and somehow that had ended up happening after.

Later that evening he went back to Fox's place, dressed nicely (for him) and smelling good.

comments

Q

House hadn't exactly been at his best since the love of his life had died in his arms, twice. But he had forced himself to get back to work, and was trying his very best to pretend like he wasn't absolutely losing it.

Though he had a feeling he wasn't fooling Hannibal, and he'd gotten put on what amounted to desk duty. Which today meant babysitting a guy from Q branch who was doing... something in sickbay, he wasn't even sure.

Alone in the room though, and nothing to occupy himself, he found himself watching him curiously. Perhaps a touch suspiciously. After all, it was MI-6 who were responsible for Max's condition, as far as House was concerned.

"What are you doing anyway?" he finally asked.

comments

Astarion

Surprisingly there were not many pubs in London that played American football on the televisions. Even then, it was usually like one television out of half a dozen above the bar. As a result, House had not only a regular pub that he went to this time of year but also a regular seat.

"Hey Greg," said the bartender as House slid onto a stool at the end of the bar and leaned his cane against it. He went ahead and poured a double of Jack Daniels on the rocks and pushed it to him without House having to ask. "Who's playing tonight?" he asked, as if he cared. But House appreciated the effort.

"Ohio State versus Rutgers," said House then added gleefully, "I'm just here to watch Ohio State get their asses kicked." He'd gone to Michigan.

"Hey can I also get a basket of chips?" he asked, and the bartender nodded and walked away.

comments

House didn't visit Input on a regular basis exactly, but often enough that his face was known there. The men and women he'd spent time with he'd seen more than once, and when he arrived tonight and sat down at the bar, the bartender pushed him a Jack Daniels without him having to ask, and mentioned that they were quite busy tonight but he'd seen Isaac recently if he'd like to have a drink with him. "Yes, please tell him I'm here," House had said before taking a sip.

Though before he'd even managed to take a second drink, he heard someone shouting for a doctor.

He almost ignored it. Almost. But instead, he said to the bartender, "I'll be right back," and then slid off the stool, grabbed his cane, and headed in the direction of the shouts.

comments

This was exceptionally stupid, but when Danny left again House kind of missed him.

No, he told himself, he missed having someone cook eggs and tidy up. Insisted to himself, really. Because obviously House was not lonely.

He did, however, actually smile when there was a knock at the door and Danny was on the other side.

"Well," he said. "That took you long enough."

comments

"She'll be fine," House said, stepping into Hannibal's office. "Food poisoning. I gave her something that should keep it under control until it blows over, but consider her out of commission for about 48 hours."

Without invitation, he sat down in the chair across from his desk, and put his cane down on the floor. "She must be new, hadn't seen her before. Are you expanding or did you lose someone?"

comments

Nyx

House was having a rough day. Not only had one of the poison antidotes he'd been working on turned out to be a dismal failure this morning (just ask the dead squirrel he'd been using as a test subject), but also his leg fucking hurt.

He was considering going to Hannibal's. A massage and an orgasm might do him wonders. But first he decided he just needed a decent meal and a drink. A drink or five. So he went to Hex's inn and sat at the bar, digging into a meat pie while a glass with two fingers of whiskey in it sat beside him.

His cane was leaning against the bar beside him, but someone bumped it and it clattered to the floor loudly. He sighed and started to bend over to pick it up.

comments

Danny

It was completely ridiculous that House and Danny were still just sleeping in the same bed, like that was totally normal. Sometimes they even woke up snuggled against each other, and then pretended like nothing had happened. Perhaps it was just a testament to the strange world they were in. Everything was ridiculous.

It was bound to happen eventually, but House had a dream about him. Yes, him - Danny. He dreamed of the younger man on his knees in front of him. Tempting. And when House woke, he was pressed against his back. Hard against him, one arm draped over him. Hard against him. He didn't moved, afraid to, and also not wanting to just yet. Wondering if Danny was still asleep.

comments

Nyx

House chalked up how good he was feeling right now to the fact that he'd just taken Vicodin for the first time in months. His leg didn't hurt. And maybe it was just the hot androgynous person, but suddenly he also felt even more interested in sex than he had been in a while.

He'd wanted Nyx the moment he saw him, of course. He reminded him so much of Corbin. And maybe that was why he felt so uneasy about the idea of paying him for sex. Well, that and the possibility of Hex finding out. But as much as, even just an hour again when they'd been talking all these excuses were rattling around in his brain, suddenly they just seemed unimportant.

"Hi again," he said, and smiled at him.

comments

There had been a number of shitty times in House's life. When he'd thought things sucked beyond repair. But this definitely took the cake. What could he say? The world had gone to shit. Opioids were in short supply. And his leg fucking hurt.

If there was anything good about the current state of things, it was that there was always need for a doctor. Though the down side of that was that the cases were usually easy. Boring. Broken legs, malnutrition, bacterial infections.

He'd left London in the first place because treating a billionaire with a knife in his eye had at least made for an interesting few days. And now that they'd come back... maybe part of him had hoped they'd find a city here again. Nope.

He'd taken up woodworking. It was something to do with his hands. He sat a lot these days. Even though he'd carved a pretty bitchin cane. It was leaning against the chair he was sitting in now, as he carved a crowned crane out of a piece of birch with a pocket knife.

comments

House had a feeling that this was going to end badly, but he couldn't bring himself to care. He'd enjoy it while he could, and that meant he wanted Corbin to enjoy it, too.

He got a room at a swanky hotel and checked in a little early. Made some preparations, and then texted Corbin the address and room number. He felt a little silly doing all this. Though as long as Corbin didn't think so, it would hopefully be well worth the effort.

In terms of his appearance though, House looked the same as always. Freshly showered, and he was wearing his favorite tshirt, but he had no desire to be someone he wasn't.

comments

House had been sure thirty seconds ago that this case was going to bore the hell out of him, but then Cameron informed him that the ER had already ruled out all the obvious explanations for a seizure absent epilepsy accompanied by elevated calcium levels.

As he walked down the hallway to where Chase was with the patient running tests, he impulsively pulled out his phone and texted Corbin.

Caught a case. EEG lab if you want to see the magic happen. He didn't wait to see if he answered, just slid his phone back into his pocket.

A few minutes later he was hounding Chase to hurry up. "Yeah, yeah, boring. Let's focus on the task at hand here. Figuring out what made mom twitch so hard she threw the baby in with the bathwater."

The door had just opened and he saw Corbin walk in so he added, "Don't worry, baby's fine." He looked at Chase. "People get so weird about babies."

comments

Wyn & Alwyn

Honestly the data analysis that went into trying to gain insights about Wyn was one of the best intellectual challenges House had had in some time. The data from Alwyn was also enormously helpful, since he could use it as a control. Also the process of getting some of it was... a bonus.

Finally he thought he had a pretty reasonable theory. He didn't really want to wait until he ran into him again, so one day right after class he went to Wyn's room and knocked on the door.

comments

"Wyn?" House stopped him in the hallway. "You have a minute?"

Part of him wanted to wait until he had more answers to talk to Wyn about the tests he'd been doing, but hee probably deserved to stay informed.

comments

Strange

House was not a fan of asking for help. Really not a fan. But he also wasn't stupid, and he knew his limitations.

He walked into Strange's office and without preamble announced, "I need you to make me a portal to the fae lands."

comments

Spencer

House had been playing chess with someone in the teacher's lounge for about a week, but he didn't know who it was. He'd just walked in one day and one of the white pawns was moved, so he looked at it for a moment and then made a move from black. And the next time he returned, white had made another move.

It was actually quite a good game, and it made him look forward to going to the lounge, which was unusual. Also he was rather hoping he could find out who he was playing with.

And then one day he walked in just in time to see the new guy walking up to the board to examine it. "Aha!" he said. "Also, check."

comments

Hex

It had been less than a week, so it wasn't as if an obviously unusual amount of time had passed, but House hadn't asked to see Fin since their unexpected encounter in the holodeck. It wasn't that the had made a decision to... not, but he was definitely feeling some kind of way, and it didn't like it, and he wanted to give himself enough space to hopefully not feel that way.

He had also done his best to avoid Hex, but not enough to stay out of sickbay or the lab. Especially because he had a daily appointment with Remus Lupin, and today he was running a brand new set of tests. At the moment he was dropping reagents into a couple of vials of blood he'd drawn from him.

comments

Fin

House didn't care for the puck, but he was useful. He'd procured a number of things from him over the past year - jack daniels, the type of narcotics unavailable through medical, and an actual record player along with some records. He hadn't expected to procure sex through him, but... he might have mentioned it offhand, once. Nothing he was a stranger to, back on earth. Especially since his leg.

But when the puck reminded him of that offhand comment, and said he'd just procured a license for one of the newcomers onboard... he'd agree.

What was he thinking? He was already regretting this. Not enough to call it off... but he was an absolute bundle of nerves when the door chime rang. And "bundle of nerves" was not a frequent feeling for him.

He was still wearing his uniform, because he hadn't known what else to put on, and so at least it saved him a decision.

He opened the door. "Uh. Hi. Come in."

comments

House had left work earlier than planned that day because one of his patients had done better than expected overnight, and been released. So House was also in a good mood because... well, he'd been right. Of course.

He got some food at the diner by the hospital, and then on impulse texted Spencer Reid. Any chance he wanted to play chess? House gave him the address of his flat, and headed there after paying his check.

comments

Danny

House had spent the night at Danny's the night before, and when he woke he heard Danny in the shower. He yawned and got out of bed, making his way to the kitchen in his boxers to brew a pot of coffee.

Then he walked into the study across from the kitchen. He hadn't paid much attention to it, but then his eyes went to a dark wood case in one corner. He went over, pulled it open, and... jackpot. Chess board.

He carried it into the dining room and put it on the table, opening it up and pulling out drawers of pieces. He'd just finished putting the last white pawn in place when he heard Danny. "Want to play?" he asked. "Coffee might be done."

comments
