House had a feeling that this was going to end badly, but he couldn't bring himself to care. He'd enjoy it while he could, and that meant he wanted Corbin to enjoy it, too.

He got a room at a swanky hotel and checked in a little early. Made some preparations, and then texted Corbin the address and room number. He felt a little silly doing all this. Though as long as Corbin didn't think so, it would hopefully be well worth the effort.

In terms of his appearance though, House looked the same as always. Freshly showered, and he was wearing his favorite tshirt, but he had no desire to be someone he wasn't.

"No, I didn't.... I know that's not what you meant. I'm just used to anyone who thinks they care about me deciding that they need to save me from myself," said House with a sigh.

Corbin nodded a little, but it was obvious he was still a bit stung.

"Maybe we should order some room service," he suggested.

"Yeah, sure," said House. "There's a menu on the dresser."

He paused, and then, back to Corbin looking wounded.... "Have I told you why I left New Jersey?"

"Not really," Corbin replied, grabbing the menu and skimming through it.

"A cop had it out for me and came after me for drug possession," said House. "And everyone just hung me out to dry. Including my best friend. Trying to get me into rehab." House sat up, and took a swig from a bottle of water on the nightstand.

"Sounds like they were really worried," Corbin said, even though he knew that wasn't what Greg would want to hear. "I know I'd have to be really worried about someone to think going to prison was the only way to get them clean."

He'd been in and out of rehab a few times himself, but it had never gotten bad enough that Walt would have let him get locked up to get him sober.

"Except I'm not an addict," House pointed out. He picked up the phone. "See something that looks good?"

Corbin nearly pointed out most addicts didn't think they were, but let it be.

"I was thinking just a salad."

"Will you share a piece of cake with me?" House asked with a smile.

Corbin hesitated a beat, then nodded.

"Sure, yes, alright. Cake sounds nice," he smiled.

House smiled at him, and then picked up the phone and ordered - salad, a burger for him, a piece of chocolate cake, and champagne.

When he hung up, he leaned in and kissed him. "I told you that story just because... it's a bit of a sore spot. I trust you. And I don't think you were lecturing me."

"I wouldn't do that," Corbin said. "But... I mean, there's no shame in addiction. I mean- I..."

He trailed off, then shrugged. "I'm just saying that I would understand is all."

House looked at him for a long moment and then said gently, "Your're right. There's not. And if I was an addict, I..." He wasn't quite meeting Corbin's eyes now. "I need to function. To do my job. To not be in pain."

"I get that," Corbin assured him.

House leaned over and kissed him again. "I feel better talking about this with you than anyone else in a long time," he said quietly.

"I'm glad you feel you can talk to me about it at all," Corbin said sincerely. "I'm touched."

"I told you you were special," House said.

Corbin leaned in and kissed him again, softer this time.

"You're special too," he promised.

"Now I'm not sure if I'm spoiling you or you're spoiling me this weekend," House said.

"It can be both," Corbin grinned, stealing another kiss.

"It's all these kisses," House murmured when it broke, and kissed his neck. "Spoiling me..."

"Goes both ways, lover," Corbin smiled,humming contently.

"Have I mentioned how gorgeous you are?" House moved so that he was practically on top of him, kissing his neck and throat. "A vision..."

Corbin blushed and laughed, giving Greg's bum a playful squeeze.

"Yes, well, you're dreadfully handsome."

There was a knock at the door then. "Well fuck," House said. "I guess the nice rooms get you quick service. Do you mind?" His leg ached a little still and he suspected Corbin could pull on clothes a lot faster. "My wallet's on the dresser if you want to grab some money for a tip."
