House had a feeling that this was going to end badly, but he couldn't bring himself to care. He'd enjoy it while he could, and that meant he wanted Corbin to enjoy it, too.

He got a room at a swanky hotel and checked in a little early. Made some preparations, and then texted Corbin the address and room number. He felt a little silly doing all this. Though as long as Corbin didn't think so, it would hopefully be well worth the effort.

In terms of his appearance though, House looked the same as always. Freshly showered, and he was wearing his favorite tshirt, but he had no desire to be someone he wasn't.

"It's rare," House assured him. "You should feel very special."

"I do," Corbin said, in a tone that really made it seem as though he meant that sincerely.

House looked a little embarrassed for a second and then said, "You know Dr. Cameron, who works for me? She extorted me into a date a couple of years ago."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"That sounds... Not good," Corbin frowned.

[drfeelbad]

House shrugged. "It was fine. She thought she was in love with me. But she wasn't. She just wanted to fix me. I called her on it, and that was that."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"You don't need fixing," Corbin replied. "I enjoy you exactly as you are."

"Mmmmm beauty in the eye of the beholder," House said. "But I appreciate that."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"Sure," Corbin smiled, shrugging one shoulder and sipping his drink, before returning his attention to the skyline. "Do you like London?" he asked after a moment.

"It's not bad," House said with a shrug. "I've lived in a lot of different places. Didn't even live in the states for most of my childhood so I have no nostalgia for the shitty parts of America."

"Where was your favourite place, and why?" Corbin asked, wanting to learn just a bit more about the other man.

"Mmmm Egypt, I think," House said, looking out at the city and smiling a little. "Fancied myself a treasure hunter."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"Oh? And did you find anything exciting?" Corbin asked with a grin. "I could see you being a bit of an adventurer."

House chuckled. "I found an old coin once and thought I was Indiana Jones. But more importantly... what I learned helped me save a patient later. I told you about the woman who was poisoning her husband with gold."

"Right, yeah, I remember," Corbin nodded.

"Well I don't mean to brag but I'm very fucking smart," House said with a playful laugh. Then he leaned towards Corbin and teased, "But that's why you're here, right? The pleasure of my brainy company."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"It's one reason," Corbin replied in a soft and teasing tone. "Though I imagine you're not very interested in my brain."

House arched an eyebrow. "Corbin, if I wasn't interested in a brain I'd hire a prostitute."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"I'm positive there are plenty of prostitutes brighter than me," Corbin laughed.

"It's not just intelligence, it's... well, it's a lot of things," House said. "In any case, you already know you're special. And that you're special to me." He stood then, and offered Corbin his hand. And when he pulled him up, he kissed him deeply, pushing him back against the balcony.

Corbin hadn't really known that. He always just assumed most people thought he was a fun time.

He returned the kiss, arms slipping around him and holding on tight.

House wasn't sure how many more ways he could say it to make Corbin believe him, but in any case, it was true.

When the kiss broke he murmured against his ear, "To be clear, just because I want you for your mind doesn't mean I don't also want to fuck you."

Corbin laughed brightly, holding on a little tighter.

"Good to know," he grinned, kissing him again. "This really is nice, Greg. Thank you for putting this together for us."

"Hotel weekends feel a bit like stepping into another world, right?" House said. "Like nothing else exists. For a short time."

Like Hex, for example. Not that House would say that. He didn't want Corbin to think he was trying to... well, that he was trying to make this something that he was well aware it wasn't. But for a night it was nice to pretend.

"Yeah," Corbin nodded. "No work, no worries, nothing," he added with a smile.

House took Corbin's hand then and pulled him into the room, closing the french doors behind them. "Maybe we'll do the exhibitionism later," he said with a smile tugging at his lips.
