"Wyn?" House stopped him in the hallway. "You have a minute?"

Part of him wanted to wait until he had more answers to talk to Wyn about the tests he'd been doing, but hee probably deserved to stay informed.

"Maybe," Wyn sighed. "I don't know. I just really thought he wouldn't come here. He always said he wasn't interested. And it's not like we're close, I don't go home to see him ever, and he's never come to visit me."

Nevermind that Wyn had never invited him to, while Alwyn had invited him to come stay with him more than once.

"If you want him to leave you should tell him," House said. "He's here because of you."

"You don't think that would be cruel of me?" Wyn asked. "I did tell him I don't need looking after. I am his older brother after all, I should be looking after him. ...But he just insisted he wanted to keep an eye on me."

House shrugged. "I barely know him. But you quietly resenting him I'm sure isn't helping."

"No, I suppose not. I just..."

Wyn sighed and sat back down, picking up his discarded shirt.

"I love him, you know? I do, but- He loves being a nymph, and I just never have. I've always wanted to be human, and him being here is just a reminder that I'm always going to be fae."

House probably should not tell him that his brother had propositioned him. He definitely shouldn't ask him how he felt about that.

"I mean, what do I know. It's just... your brother seems okay, and it seems as if you'd be stronger together."

"You're probably right, I just- I'm not sure I'm ready to be so in touch with my roots."

"I think that's fine too," said House.

Wyn nodded, silent a beat before pulling his shirt back on and speaking.

"He brought our crowns. I don't know why. It's not like we've got need for them here. He wants me to take mine, but I told him I don't want it."

"I saw," House said, without thinking what that implied. he shrugged. "It might suit you. Though I see why wouldn't be interested in wearing it."

""Yeah, I don't think I'll be- Wait, you saw?" Wyn asked, looking surprised.

"I helped him find his room," was all House said.

[prince_of_nymphs]

"Oh," Wyn replied. "That was kind of you, going up to the tower and all."

"Oh uh, there's an elevator," House said awkwardly.

[prince_of_nymphs]

"No, I know. ...Still kind of you," Wyn said, shrugging one shoulder and offering a small smile.

"Well, he's... your brother," House mumbled.

[prince_of_nymphs]

"My baby brother at that," Wyn said. "...I do love him, you know? I know I'm not thrilled to have him here, but I did miss him, and I do care about him. Thank you for caring for him too."

Fucking hell House was glad he hadn't slept with him, he'd feel like such a shit right now. And as it was, he still cleared his throat and looked slightly uncomfortable. "Well. He seems to just want what's best for you. And I care about you."

Fuck! That wasn't better! "I mean - you know what I mean."

"I care about you too," Wyn said, not seeing anything wrong with telling the other man as much.

House really needed to get laid, he decided. Because this was fucking ridiculous.He could not be feeling this way about a student. "Thanks."

"I'm sorry, was that inappropriate?" Wyn asked, worried he'd overstepped.

House sighed. "No. No, you haven't been appropriate at all. Me on the other hand... well."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"I don't feel like you've been inappropriate," Wyn replied. "You've been really generous with your time, and you've been kind to me since the day we met- And that means a lot to me."

House wasn't sure if it was actually helpful that his inappropriateness must have been mostly in his head.

"Ah. Well. You're welcome," he finally said.

Wyn smiled softly again, then brightened even more.

"Would you like to get a coffee? A good one, I mean. I can walk into town now."
