Wyn & Alwyn

Honestly the data analysis that went into trying to gain insights about Wyn was one of the best intellectual challenges House had had in some time. The data from Alwyn was also enormously helpful, since he could use it as a control. Also the process of getting some of it was... a bonus.

Finally he thought he had a pretty reasonable theory. He didn't really want to wait until he ran into him again, so one day right after class he went to Wyn's room and knocked on the door.

It was Alwyn who opened the door, tilting his head curiously as he looked Greg over.

"If you're here for my brother, he's asleep. He had a dizzy spell while we were in herbology. Fainted. The nurse told him to rest, so I brought him back here," he explained.

House looked surprised to see him.

"Hi, Alwyn," he said, looking at him for a moment. It felt good to see him. But then he snapped out of it.

"Is he all right?" he asked, frowning.

"I think so, but I'm no medic. I did offer to fetch Hex from class, but Wyn insisted I not worry him. ...Which is stupid, he's going to worry the same now as he will later," Alwyn replied, looking thoughtful, then shrugging.

"You can come in, I was just about to wake him to have a cup of tea," he added, offering a smile as he took a slight step back and gestured for Greg to follow.

House touched Alwyn's harm briefly and then followed him in, looking over at Wyn on the bed.

"Hey Wyn," he said. "How are you feeling?"

Wyn looked as though he was still half asleep, rubbing his face and sitting up slightly. "I'm fine," he insisted.

"Liar," Alwyn tutted, starting to brew the tea.

House walked over to Wyn. "Mind if I try something?" he asked, looking down at him.

Wyn yawned, pushing his hair back out of his face and nodding slightly.

"Sure, should I find the patch?" he asked.

House shook his head, trying not to think about all the data about Wyn's sex life he'd spent time pouring over.

"No, just..." And he reached down and took his hand. He held his hand, his thumb stroking the top of it. Caressing, really.

Wyn looked puzzled, but the effect was almost immediately noticeable in the way some of his colour started to come back to his cheeks.

"Ah, there we are," said House. Then looked thoughtful. "I've never had to prescribe someone a good fuck before. Should I write that down for you on a prescription pad?" He didn't realize he hadn't dropped Wyn's hand.

Alwyn was watching the pair, and eventually cleared his throat to remind them he was still in the room as he brought over their tea.

Wyn blushed, then swallowed nervously. "You mean hook up with people besides Hex. ...Right, yeah, no, I- I dunno if I can do that."

"I told you before, if Hex is so fucking important, just have threesoms now and then," Alwyn huffed, sitting down on the bed and sipping his tea.

As soon as Alwyn sat down, House shot an awkward glance his way and let go of Wyn's hand.

"Uh," said House, "it's not bad advice."

Wyn looked down at his tea, then took a slow sip.

"I'll discuss it with Hex," he said finally.

"Good," Alwyn replied, before looking at Greg. "It's good to see you," he noted.

"I'm glad," said House, before realizing what a stupid response that was. But it seemed less awkward to just let it lie. "Uh. How are you?" Then, to Wyn - "Wrist. I want to take your pulse."

Wyn glanced between the pair before offering his wrist.

"You've spent some time together?" he asked.

"He was very helpful with my data collection," House said. He didn't necessarily care if Wyn knew about him and Alwyn but he didn't know if Alwyn did. House didn't want to embarrass him.

"...I bet," Wyn said, looking jus ta little surprised by the implication of it all.

Alwyn, for his part, seemed unbothered. "I'm always happy to help."

House really wanted to know if Alwyn was still... interested, now that the data collection was over. But he didn't ask, not now.

He also noted that Wyn looked surprised. Well, he had said that he didn't think Alwyn had been flirting with House.

"So you weren't making Hex sick," said House to Wyn. "But you were making yourself sick."

"John suspected as much," Wyn admitted. "He's been saying so, but had no proof."

"Well I have data," said House. He looked over at Alwyn. "You know, the only missing piece is if you would fall in love, I could compare."

Alwyn pulled a face at that, almost looking offended by the idea of romance.

"I don't think that's data you're likely to get," Wyn said awkwardly.

House just chuckled and couldn't help but glance at Alwyn, his expression fond. "Noted."

He turned his attention back to Wyn. "Look, whatever it is that you need, it's showing up in your white blood cell count. And what I can tell you is that it regenerates at a slower rate when you're with Hex than when you're with other people."

Alwyn couldn't help but smile at that look from Greg, though it shifted slightly as they spoke.

"I thought you were only seeing Hex," he said, giving his brother a confused look

"I am," Wyn insisted. "I'm not sleeping with anyone else, but I do spend time with someone... It's a different kind of Intimacy, and Hex is well aware of it."

Alwyn looked confused a beat longer, then repulsed as he put the pieces together. "Idiot," he scolded simply.

Wyn ignored him, deciding to focus on Greg. "So, when I'm with someone else, even without sex, it's enough?" he asked, sounding hopeful. "If I just did that a bit more often, you think I'd be alright?"

"Well you're looking like shit today," House pointed out. "But the fact that me touching you for 30 seconds seemed to improve that would suggeest that is the case, yes."

"...Thanks," Wyn replied. "But, that means I can just find a few more people to spend time with. That's brilliant."
