House was having a rough day. Not only had one of the poison antidotes he'd been working on turned out to be a dismal failure this morning (just ask the dead squirrel he'd been using as a test subject), but also his leg fucking hurt.

He was considering going to Hannibal's. A massage and an orgasm might do him wonders. But first he decided he just needed a decent meal and a drink. A drink or five. So he went to Hex's inn and sat at the bar, digging into a meat pie while a glass with two fingers of whiskey in it sat beside him.

His cane was leaning against the bar beside him, but someone bumped it and it clattered to the floor loudly. He sighed and started to bend over to pick it up.

"That I am," said House with a quirk of his lips, and drained the rest of his own drink.

"And modest," Nyx teased.

"The fact that you seem to actually enjoy my company has already inflated my ego," House said, amused.

"I like meeting new people, all sorts. I like learning and chatting and making connections," Nyx explained. "And you are interesting and nice."

"I don't get 'nice' very often," House said, and took a drink. "But I think you're interesting, too." Which was more than what he could say for most people.

[prince_of_nymphs]

"Thank you, you are kind to say so," Nyx beamed.

[drfeelbad]

"And... gorgeous," House added, and glanced down at his hands around the glass on the bar. "Though that I assume you hear all the time."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"I don't, but I'm dreadfully sheltered," Nyx giggled.

"I see," said House with an amused snort. "Well I am going to stop flirting with you before I make a fool of myself. Besides, my drink is empty."

"I could fill it for you," the fae said with a playful grin.

House quirked a smile, and pushed his glass in his direction. "Does that mean I should keep flirting?"

""That depends, how well do you tip?" Nyx teased.

House almost made a comment about how much money he'd spent at Hannibal's, but well, that might be reasonably taken the wrong way.

"Quite well," he promised him.

Nyx laughed brightly, then grinned. "Then flirt away," he chuckled, refilling the man's glass.

House was starting to have a feeling that this evening might end with him wandering over to Hannibal's and finding a man this evening, which he hadn't done in quite some time.

Still, even if he had no reason to think this was going anywhere, it was kind of fun to flirt. Hadn't Hex told him he should? And he also didn't give a rat's ass if someone saw him flirting with a man. There were some benefits of being powerful and useful.

"I'm afraid I'm not the sort to recite poetry," House said with a quirked smile. "If you're into that sort of thing. What are you into?"

"I suppose I'm still learning that," Nyx replied, looking thoughtful. "I like kindness, I like when a person is warm and easy to speak with... I suppose everyone likes that though," he admitted.

"Warm is not usually a word used to describe me," House said. "But you seem like someone who is particularly easy to warm to."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"It's my magic," Nyx assured him. "I'm ensnaring you as we speak. Every word has a tinge of magic to it, few can resist. I don't mean to do it though," he promised.

"What... does that mean?" House asked, frowning. "I don't feel ensnared."

[prince_of_nymphs]

"Nymphs are naturally enticing, our magic provokes lust and desire. It's passive, people find us naturally charming, even when we're not," Nyx shrugged.

House opened his mouth, then closed it again. And then finally said, "So how are you actually reacting to my flirting with you then? You don't believe it?"

"I believe it," Nyx assured him. "Just because I'm enticing doesn't mean I'm not enchanting," he quipped.

"I think that's true, yes," said House, after a moment. "I mean at the very least you'd be hot regardless."

[prince_of_nymphs]

Nyx giggled again. "I don't know that term," he confessed.

"You're ah, you're attractive," House said. "Nice to look at... sexy."

This was definitely the weirdest flirting he'd ever done. Though he was out of practice anyway.
